First Round Hans Woyda Win
The Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s team started their campaign in the group stages of this year’s Hans Woyda Maths Competition Cup with an away match against Chigwell School on Tuesday 1 October. The team of Daffodil Dhayaa (L4), Seyon Uthayakumar (U4, who was playing “up” against a Year 11), Kavin Vijayakumar (L6) and Captain Joanne Pham (U6) won convincingly 43-25. Well done!
Hans Woyda is London’s most prestigious and hotly contested schools’ Maths competition. Sixty four schools take part: a mixture of state and private schools. Each team is made up of four pupils; one of whom is in year 7 to 9 (3rds – L4), one GCSE pupil (U4 or 5ths), one year 12 (L6) and one year 13 (U6). The competition is a mixture of individual, paired and group questions. Initially each school plays against their three local schools, before the winner of the group stage progresses to a knockout stage and the runner-up into the plate competition.
